How To Stop Time

How To Stop Time

By Matt Haig

Time; always a mysterious and contentious rivalry between man’s poetic angst for more time and the scientific observation of earth’s orbit around the sun.  This book does a nice job bringing this duel to the fore.  A 400 plus year old man wrestles with love for a lost wife in the 1600s and a new love in the 21st century.  As a person with a unique DNA he ages very slowly.  It turns out he is not the only one and there is a society of ageless wonders.  I use the word ‘wonders’ because from 1500 through to the 19th century, people of ignorance and superstition deemed this society a people as witches and demons.

Because of this, a society is created to provide a sanctuary for these people called Alba’s, short for Albatross.  The main character of the book finds the need to change his identity approximately every eight years and start up a new life elsewhere in the world.  He has a mentor whose character evolves from a guy who seems to want to help to a manipulative style much like a mafia crime boss, though crimes are not committed.  As the book flows through time into the 21 century our crime boss operates from fear.  Fear of high tech companies looking to capture the Albas and make lab rats out of them in the name of medical research.  Tom, the present-day name for the main character, actually falls in love, which is deemed very dangerous.  The danger lies in exposing themselves as the mate of an Alba ages and the Alba does not, raising questions in society.

So I’ve provided a synopsis full of the ingredients to stop time.  I’ll let it tick on long enough for you to read the book and find out for yourself.  In the course of reading, not only will you learn how to stop time, you will take in many, many quips of wisdom.  Get your highlighter out.

Spiritual Path

The Spiritual Path

By Gregory David Roberts

The author of Shantarum, the best book I have ever read, delves into essentially lessons learned from him experiencing/writing Shantarum.  It should come as no surprise that Shantarum would launch him onto his own spiritual path.  While its about his path, it comes across as an instructional manual.

Spiritual Reality, the Universe is the forest for which Robert’s path explores.  The universe is always there…for you to tune in to.  A popular 2023 phrase would be there you to vibe (vibrate) with.  That vibration requires commitment.  It requires an elevation of consciousness to things that are not necessarily material.   He expresses the vibration of the Universe as divine.  The reader if any orientation to God, could interchange the words Universe and God.  The giving to the Universe of you creativity in spiritual vernacular is really harvesting the bounty of what is there for you to wake up to.  By  giving as such you could call yourself a ‘co-creator’ with God.

Perhaps the reason Gregory David Roberts resonates with me is because he makes connection with Unity, a religious organization that expresses Spirituality in real terms.

Below are highlights from the book that underscores my review.

1.      "Everyone is spiritual. Everyone is on the spiritual Path. Whether we know it or not we’re all on the Path, we all find our ways to spiritual connection naturally, and many of us connect without ever striving for it. But it’s also possible to walk the Path consciously, with awareness and active commitment. Six years ago, I had the motive, the means and the opportunity to walk consciously on the spiritual Path. The motive was that I wanted to know – after decades of research into theology, mystical traditions and the spiritual, I wanted to know: is there something there? Is there some kind of Spiritual Reality, or not? The means was a conch shell – my spiritual teacher had assured me that blowing the conch shell with utmost Innocence and sincerity in active, physical Devotion could, and would, connect me with the spiritual."

2.      "But there is a lot of stuff, perhaps even a Multiverse of Universes of stuff, so therefore the Divine Perfection must be creative, not destructive. And all that we see around us in the perceivable Universe is an expression of the Divine Perfection’s perfect Creativity."

3.      "It seemed to me reasonable that a Divine Perfection, creating everything from a perfect, Giving Creativity, would imbue the Universe with a spiritual component that, although not the Divine Perfection Itself, may provide a conduit or wavelength for indirect connection to The Source."

4.      "Spiritual Reality were to exist, one way to connect with it might be through Giving, because the entire Multiverse of Universes is an expression of the Divine Perfection’s perfect Giving. Love is Selfless Giving. Devotion is Selfless spiritual Giving."

5.      "In the Spiritual Reality, this relationship changes. In the Spiritual Reality, the dimensions collapse, joining Intention to Outcome, Cause to Effect and Means to Ends, among other connections. In the Spiritual Reality, the Intention is the Outcome, the Cause is the Effect, and the Means is the End. This is"

6.      "Because the Spiritual Reality is non-material and beyond dimensional space and time as we know them, the words of the spiritual language are interchangeable."

7.      "From the perspective of the Spiritual Reality, what we call the “flow of time” is an everlasting now of Intention, a constant “reboot instant” of everything possible."

8.      "The scientific method is predicated on experimental validation for third parties to observe. The spiritual is predicated on experiential validation for individuals uniquely to experience. It’s the difference between knowing something as a fact, or information, and knowing it from experience: between knowing that LSD inspires hallucinations as a clinical fact, and actually having the trip your Self. One is a set of facts out there, and the other is a set of Truths in here, within the Self."

9.      "I’m sure that the meteors would’ve scratched across the sky in the same way, and at the same time, whether I was there or not. It was an Affirmation because I was in exactly the right place, at exactly the right time, doing exactly what I needed to do be doing, and with exactly the right Intention, to experience the event as an Affirmation."

10.   Hi – I'm reading "The Spiritual Path" by Gregory David Roberts and wanted to share this quote with you.

11.   "It’s not the Universe consciously telling my Self something specific, so to speak, it’s my Self, consciously tuning in to the Universe’s constant language of Affirmation."

12.   "It’s not about the Universe, coming to you. It’s about you, coming to the Universe." "Such interactions happen constantly, but we need to have a special lens through which to experience and perceive them. That special lens is not merely required to apprehend such phenomena; it’s required to even think about them." For a very large black bat to swoop and touch my head at the commencement of a ritual for the Goddess, and an owl to hoot at exactly the moment that the candlelight reaches the sky, and a wild creature to acknowledge my Devotion with five bows of the head is both coincidence and beyond coincidence in the language"

13.   "For a very large black bat to swoop and touch my head at the commencement of a ritual for the Goddess, and an owl to hoot at exactly the moment that the candlelight reaches the sky, and a wild creature to acknowledge my Devotion with five bows of the head is both coincidence and beyond coincidence in the language of the spiritual. It is the Affirmation of connection."

14.   "Faith is Freedom from fear. Faith is also Freedom from the most painful emotions arising from attachment. Faith is about Giving, and in the Faith-filled moments of pure Giving, without asking for anything in return, we are free from the drag of fear or desire."

Orlando Rock

Olando Rock

By William C Kauffman

The way I came on to this book where the prime word is coincidence, is very much in keeping with the story line of this book.  I was at an art fair in midtown Minneapolis looking for a vase to put a dried flower collection in.  The vase and flowers would be a gift for a friend.  As I am completing the purchase I got to talking to the booth owner and we discovered that we were each authors.  The conversation concluded with me buying his book.

The storyline of the book could almost be a auto-biography as the author actually is a Potterer and works the Art Show Circuit across the country.  This is the backdrop of the book.  The book takes on a mystical clairvoyance which coincidently I was reading a book on Edgar Cayce, a renowned  clairvoyant of the 20th century.  Why am I reading on this subject you would ask.  Well upon moving back to Minneapolis from Oklahoma City I was in the process of rediscovering my spirituality.  A spirituality that embraces the specter of out of body experiences through meditation.

The three prime characters includes an artist/clairvoyant that expresses her visions through her art.  The interpreter of her art would clearly see she is communicating something that just happened to her boyfriend, the second prime character.  This character would be miles away and she knew exactly what he was experiencing. The third prime character also an artist on the Art Circuit tour is best friends with the first prime character and finds her self making advances, making this a love triangle of sorts.  This would be tension point one.

Tension point is a murder mystery that plays out through a corrupt sheriff, the love triangle players and the son of the first prom character, who is involved with drug dealers.  His involvement brings in the drug dealers who kidnap the son.  To complicate things, the sheriff believes that the first character has something to do with the murder.    How this all plays out is a fun read where mysticism and clairvoyance was part of solving the mystery.

Bible

 The Bible

I began a project a few years a go to read the Bible from front to back as a book, like any other book.  I had no catechism, no reading group, and no one to bounce my reading off.  My intent was to just absorb.   Well what in the form of moral lessons stuck? But first a synopsis:

·        Essentially the Old Testament is fraught with an angry God.  While he aided the Jews in battle, when they were good, he also severely punished them when they strayed from the Law as Moses called it.

·        The New Testament was framed in my mind by the word Forgiveness.  In both books God was all about judgement.

·        Using language from the Bible written in IV John; “For the law was given by Moses, but the grace and truth by Jesus Christ.”  Further “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him in spirit and in truth.

·        He judged and weighed his vengeance in those who did not abide.  “He will come to judge” is  in the New Testament.

·        The New Testament closes out with a chapter on Revelations, by John.  He paints a picture of a guy on a throne and wild animals with many horns.

I come away from the book disappointed and conclude, that in order for Christianity to continue, it is best to let the Clergy read the Bible to us with an interpretation that sells the virtue of God.  I say this because YES there are a lot of edicts, commands, laws laced through Bible that would provoke good and virtue to a man who could then head them.  I pause on the word man, because the God in the Bible treats the sexes as one definitely over the other, starting with Eve.  Deep into the Bible he scourges women.   If published in 2023 western world, this book would not sell with out the aid of the Church.

I read the book on a Kindle and highlighted verse that struck me.  One day I’ll circle back on these highlights and read them out of context of a religions setting.  For now I need time to separate them from a point of view that has been foisted upon me my whole life.

NOTES

1.      "Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither.

2.      "The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin."

3.      "Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder? 6:6 Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg? 6:7 The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat."

4.      "Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life. 9:22 This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked. 9:23 If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent."

5.      "Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof, 38:20 That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof? 38:21 Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great? 38:22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, 38:23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? 38:24 By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth? 38:25 Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder; 38:26 To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man; 38:27 To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth? 38:28 Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew? 38:29 Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it? 38:30 The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen. 38:31 Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? 38:32 Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? 38:33 Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth? 38:34 Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee? 38:35 Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are? 38:36 Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart? 38:37 Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,"

6.      "She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear; Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding."

7.      "She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear;  Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding."

8.      "She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear; Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding."

9.      "And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren."

10.   "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!  Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah."

11.   "But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people."

12.   "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works. There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. "

13.   "The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way."

14.   oly Bible King James Version Old and New Testaments (KJV)" by Bible and wanted to share this quote with you.

15.   "In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.  Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil. They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul. Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God. Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?"

16.   "Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man."

17.   "Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work."

18.   "As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God."

19.   "Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold."

20.   "Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture."

21.   "For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth. My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin. I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top."

22.   "For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth. My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. 102:5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin. 102:6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top."

23.   "As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth."

24.   "Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:"

25.   "The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;"

26.   "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever."

27.   "Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth. 115:16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men."

28.   "Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works."

29.   "I have done judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressors."

30.   "Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee."

31.   "My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God."

32.   "For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two–edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell."

33.   "These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."

34.   "Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house. But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts. My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee."

35.   "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise."

36.   The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps."

37.   "The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

38.   "Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good."

41.   "The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein."

42.   "For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit."

43.   "Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth"

44.   "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter." "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter."

45.   "It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house."

46.   "The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. 26:8 As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool. As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouths of fools. The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors. As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly."

47.   "A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike."

48.   "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination."

49.   "Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him."

50.   "There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not: The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid. Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness."

52.   "All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again."

53.   "There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God."

54.   "There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God."

55.   "He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God."

56.   "He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. "That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out? 7:25 I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness: 7:26 And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her."

57.   "That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out? 7I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness: 7And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her."

58.   "That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out? I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness: And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her."

59.   "Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun."

60.   "Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun."

61.   "And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

62.   "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

63.   "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

64.   "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them."

65.   "Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say, What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock? Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee. He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house."

66.   "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

67.   "And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken; 3Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down."

68.   "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand."

70.   "At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse, 4:12 Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them. 4:13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled."

71.   "Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city. 15:9 She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day:"

72.   "As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool."

73.   "And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah."

74.   "Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid."

75.   "For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it."

77.   "For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it."

79.   "for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man."

80.   "In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge. Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people."

81.   "for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness. And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with"

83.   "eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:"

84.   "Yet will I leave a remnant, that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries. And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them."

85.   "Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right, And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman, 1And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment; He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man, 1Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.  If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,  And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife, Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination, Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him. Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like, That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife, Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment, 1That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live. As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity. 18:19 Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. 18:22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live."

86.   "Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful “and right, he shall save his soul alive."  “Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die."

87.   "And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them."

88.   "And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness."

89.   "He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul."

90.   "Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul."

91.   "Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die."

92.   "Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame.  O mountains"

93.   "And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD."

94.   "The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions: And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand. And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand."

95.   "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time."

96.   “Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it? Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."

97.   "And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown."

98.   "Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"

99.   "Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are."

100.         Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever hing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man."

101.         "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"

102.         "And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it."

103.         "For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another."

8.      "Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased."

9.      "And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same."

11.   "And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful."

12. 16.   "Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7:7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed."

17.   "For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels."

24.   "And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory."

25.   "And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me."

30.   "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

31.   "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

41.   “Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. 7:23 If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?  Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ? Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is. Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. 7:29 But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me."

45.   "And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. 64.   "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

65.   "For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin."

66.   "For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin."

76.   "If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?  If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ."

77.   "Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God."

78.   “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death."

79.   "So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

80.   "Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ."
